09. Tracking Portfolio Companies

Purpose

The users can manage and monitor startups after investment using portfolio tracking features. While portfolio tracking is currently the least developed part of the platform, it provides a centralized view of portfolio companies with basic risk visibility and direct access to company profiles for reviewing reports, documents, and updates, enabling continued oversight post-investment. Access to the portfolio is available to all workspace members, not just admins.

Overview

Once a deal is marked as a portfolio company, it moves from evaluation into active investment tracking. DiligenceGPT shifts the view and metrics to reflect ongoing monitoring rather than due diligence, helping teams stay updated on performance, milestones, and portfolio health.

What Changes When a Deal Becomes a Portfolio Company

When a deal becomes a Portfolio Company in DiligenceGPT, it transitions from pre-investment evaluation to post-investment monitoring while retaining all historical diligence data, reports, documents, and scores. The company is added to the Portfolio view for ongoing oversight. At this stage, existing reports remain unchanged; however, teams can invite founders to share updates. When enabled, a dedicated section appears in the company profile, allowing users to request and manage founder-provided updates directly within the platform.

Portfolio Dashboard

The Portfolio Dashboard currently serves as a streamlined, CRM-style overview, providing a simple table of portfolio companies with associated risk scores. While high-level by design, it enables teams to quickly assess portfolio risk at a glance, with deeper reports, insights, and updates accessible within each individual company page.

Metrics Visibility

Once in the portfolio, metrics become the focus. Teams can track:

  • Traction and growth

  • Financial performance

  • Milestone achievements

  • Updates from documents, Deal Wall notes, and questionnaires

This ensures that post-investment insights are captured consistently across the portfolio.

Ongoing Updates

Portfolio companies can be updated continuously:

  • New documents or data uploads automatically feed into reports

  • Team members can add notes or comments on progress

Dashboards and AI-powered reports reflect the latest information in real time.
